Nice job, Jay, on this initial podcast. I'm sure that podcasts of all the plenary and technical presentations will be greatly appreciated in the future as well.
I have no idea what costs are involved -- for example, what would it take for the chapter to podcast our meeting presentations so more AUVSI members and guests, both within and beyond our chapter area, could enjoy the benefits.

Rich, thanks for the feedback!
There’s been a lot of discussion about what kinds of material can (or should) be incorporated into these podcasts. For those of you out there wondering, we've started with audio format, because: It’s relatively easy and inexpensive to produce; Audio requires less bandwidth and storage than video, and Most podcasts are like radio shows, that people listen to when they can't watch, like while driving, or exercising. Now, if you went to the demo, I don’t have to tell you how visual this industry’s products are--there’s plenty of material to support video podcasting--but, apart from an occasional enhanced podcast (with embedded still pics), these are going to be audio-only. That said, it’s safe to assume that practically any event that can be easily recorded could be made available online. The notion of expanding an Association event’s "listenership" via digital distribution is an idea whose time has come!
Let’s use this opportunity to invite all AUVSI Chapters to consider recording their featured events, so they can be shared with a potential worldwide audience, well beyond just those individuals who are fortunate enough to be able to attend the live activity!
Unmanned systems have LOTS of fans out there, and I’ll venture that -many- of them don’t even work in our industry! Take a look at this radio control modeling website, and the .jpgs of the demo posted there, if you need proof of that!

Collectively (inside and outside the industry) we would all benefit by distributing Association content to a broader audience. Does anybody out there see any downside to doing this? If the Chapters need help exploring podcasts, all they need to do is ask. Rich, for my part, I'll plan to attend the Capital Chapter's next meeting, and will be happy to bring along some sound gear. Send me a PM and let's coordinate that opportunity. _________________ jAyWaLkEr
